Summer Camp Re-Cap

It was only nine in the morning but as we set up the heat was already intrusive. High humidity and with the sun already shining it was going to be hot. Good thing there was going to be water balloons involved. The kids filed excitedly off the buses and into their groups. They were ready to play.

Laughter and screams of joy were heard from throughout the park as water balloons popped and the games were played.  The day-out went off smoothly with everyone including teachers ending up a bit wet.

It was the last week of our six-week camp. The kids didn’t want camp to end, so much so that a few of the teenagers came to one of the staff asking if the camp could be extended.

From cooking to musical theater and dance, to art, gardening, creating miniature fun parks, learning about other cultures, bible stories or discussions and outings each day of camp was packed full of activities and challenges.  Each day the kids were challenged to learn and challenged to think about how they live. Especially with the teenagers the classes not only were to give them something to do but also to push them to grow. They were challenged by the bible discussions to be better and to think about who they want to become.

Summer is a time for rest, for fun and also for growth. Our goal is not only to give kids things to do but that they would discover in those things who they were made to be. That they would discover their gifts and that we can enable them to dream of a new future for themselves, their family and for Lebanon.
