Our new center in Saadnayel (near the Bekaa Valley) is a new adventure for us. Situated between two mosques the call to prayer rings out five times each day and the area is primarily untouched by other NGOs. We are new to this area but the open door the Lord has given us is clear. As we opened our center and began reaching out to the community around, some were skeptical at first but after they began to see our hearts and love they began opening their homes and inviting us in. This story is from one of the home visits.
This is the story of a widow living alone with her two children, Abdul and Bayan. Their home carries sadness and fear, because the father passed away from cancer when the children were still very young. They grew up without financial stability or the support of a father, and life was not easy for them or their mother.
What makes this story powerful is the mother’s strength. She stood against the father’s family to keep her children with her, and she worked many jobs so she could raise them under her care. Every decision she made was for their emotional peace. Instead of giving the normal medication to numb the children out and protect them from the emotional pain of the father’s passing, she chose the harder road: to stay close to them, guide them, and help them heal with patience and love.
Today, she is proud of them. They grew into polite, aware, and respected young people. Her daughter Bayan has a deep spiritual sensitivity. She often senses people through their energy. She once said, “I didn’t feel comfortable… I didn’t feel the angels around them.”
But when our team member visited their home, Bayan felt peace. She told her mother, “When she entered, I felt a line of angels coming in with her.”
Between loss, widowhood, and hardship, this family survived with faith. God gave the mother the strength to carry her children through life, and guided our team to reach this home without knowing anything about them—just following the leading of the Lord where He heard a prayer.
