A Softened Heart
Dany came in the first day sass in tow poking fun at me as she came in. We’ve had a long relationship with Dany from when she was about 7 till now at 13. She’s grown into a sweet yet sassy and witty pre-teen.
During the school year her mom would register her for things, and she would drag her along to get her to come. Nothing new for a young teen. At the beginning of summer camp, it was the same but this year however her mother told us something has been different. The first couple days the attitude persisted but after a couple days she began to soften. She began coming home and redoing the activities from camp with her dad, excited to show him what she had done and talk to him about the discussions that they had in class.
“The atmosphere of the house has even changed, and she is excited to come each morning.”
One of the mornings even her mom told her she wasn’t going to be able to take them because she had hurt her foot. Dany insisted that they find a way and they made it.
Dany is one of many that we’ve seen change in this summer. Each one comes in one way and gains something. Whether it’s an experience, a change or an encounter with who they meant to be. We love to be the conduit through which each one is seen, and each one is able to see, meet and have an experience with the love of God that just may soften the stubborn teenage heart.
