Stories

The sound of Instagram or a tiktok reels was heard as the door was cracked open as a teenage girl opened the door to the center. She was greeted with smiles and hugs from the other girls already there. These girls have been coming for about three weeks. They range from teens to young adults.

We began sharing about their identity, their importance, how whatever is happening with them should be shared with trustworthy people. Through many subjects, and crafts, we are spending 2 hours weekly with them. And slowly but surely, the girls started to feel more comfortable. And they started to open up on many things that they were passing through, but that they never shared with anyone.

One of the girls 14 who has been displaced from the south who shared with us that she had been bullied since she was a kid. From the classes she learned about why sharing with other is important and she decided to tell her family who have been very supportive of her and helping her. She realizes she doesn’t have to do it on her own.

Another one of the girls 17 also displaced, her mother came to us concerned because she had been isolating herself since she was about 13. She didn’t know why and couldn’t get her to share why. At first, she didn’t want to come to the center and between us and her parents we convinced her to come by offering guitar lessons which was something she had wanted for a while. After being in guitar and getting to know us she decided to come with the girls for class, and she began to open up about being bullied and sexually harassed.

Often teens need a place outside of home to share, make connections and have a safe place to talk about things. At Triumphant Mercy we want to offer these places to these girls. Giving them a place where they can share without fear, shame or judgment and we can offer hope, help and a new dream for a different future.
